Isn't the human race strange - we all go for entertainment. Don't bore me, interest me. Entertain me, don't educate me, unless you can do it in such a way that it doesn't seem like you're doing it. Don't give me facts and figures - I'm not at work now!
We sit down in front of our pc's at the end of a hard day to play a game/watch a movie/chat on the various social sites. 20 years ago personal computers were just about unheard of. Then computers were used by banks and big corporations. Who would have dreamt then that a mere 2 decades later just about every household would have one - or some, like mine, for instance would sport no less than 3 desk top computers and 3 laptops, and there are only 4 of us in the house! And the big thing is, not much business is being conducted on any of those. Mine mostly and that is one of the laptops. Being a writer, I use my laptop for writing- business - and socializing and entertainment.
And here we are back to that lovely word, the good old entertainment! Lets analyze, shall we?
We want to be entertained to forget our own reality for a while - stress release.
We want to be entertained to reassure us that our situation isn't all that bad, that there is always somebody worse off than ourselves.
We want to be entertained in such a way that we feel reassured that there is always a way out, that we have choices.
So entertain me already! Don't bore me with the impossible, with facts ans statistics. Allow me to escape reality for a while...

Storm's Choice
Storm’s Choice
Overwhelmed
Tell me where fancy’s bred
In the head
Or
In the heart
William Shakespeare
The sand had been swept smooth by wind and weather; it was unmarred by a single footprint, the sound of the ocean a distant memory. Coastal fauna grew in a natural circle around it, punctuated by taller trees, gnarled and twisted from a difficult life. At midnight, when the moon was at its zenith, their shadows didn’t touch the ring of flickering candles that sometimes lit the clearing.
Now ten wispy, white figures crouched inside the circle, palms buried in the sand. Smoke of jasmine - for love and prosperity - and lemon verbena - to attract a mate - rose from the cauldron on the altar, straight up into the ebony dome. Not a breath of wind would dare to carry it away. The two white candles were engraved simply with the words man and woman. A low musical hum accompanied the ritual.
This spell is cast within the heart,
that love will come and not depart.
Evil, driven out for the moment beyond the circle, watched from the shadows.
It was a handfasting - a wedding to come - like scrying to foretell the future. What was it about knowing what the future held? Knowing changed behaviour and altered expectation. That was why this wedding was being performed in secret, the parties not physically present, as they did not even know about each other yet. The two green wax dolls on the altar represented the pair.
Nobody knew who they were. The fates would bring them together when the time was right. Knowledge might keep them away. And it was imperative that they came.
